amica One product
amica
Helping partners navigate separation without their former partner.
Background
Developed in collaboration with National Legal Aid and Portable, amica is a digital product designed to help couples to agree on parenting, property and money issues when they separate.
I was the sole designer working to develop amica ‘demo’ – a version of amica that allows users to answer questions and receive a suggested divsion of their assets.
Challenge
amica had an established design system that I was required to work with and develop new components within the existing library.
Approach
After deep diving into amica’s existing design system to better understand existing components, we worked with the engineering team to ensure designs adhered to amica’s existing AI model.
We then co-designed a new content model with amica, closely followed by new screen designs.
I also designed all new marketing site materials to promote the amica one demo.
Given amica was already a live product, we created a lighter version of the brand to help people feel more connected to amica while signaling that amica one is more of a personal research tool for individuals.
Early analytics of ‘amica’ showed there were many people who were signing up to amica by entering their own email twice to avoid having to invite their partner.
This data, mixed with insights from user surveys and testing, inspired amica one, allowing a single party to enter key information on behalf of both parties, review the output of the asset division, and better understand the platform before deciding to use it with their ex-partner.
